From Moose to Microtines: Inside Grimsö’s Unique Wildlife Surveys

Since the early 1970s, SITES Grimsö Wildlife Research Station has been a hub for long-term wildlife and habitat monitoring. Some of the station's ongoing surveys were launched as early as 1973–74, when the station first opened. Spanning a research area of 13,000 hectares, these long-running data series are not only rare in Sweden, but also internationally.

First Data Retreat of 2025: Grimsö Wildlife Research Station

On January 17th, members of the SITES Secretariat met with the staff at Grimsö Wildlife Research Station for the first data retreat of the year. The team reviewed the latest data on fox reproduction, pellet counts, small rodent dynamics and migratory birds.

In addition to these updates, productive discussions were held about uploading several other datasets from Grimsö in the near future. Stay tuned for more developments!
