New Equipment at Lönnstorp

16 March 2026

Over the past few months, significant investments have been made in new equipment to enhance the attractiveness of SITES Lönnstorp research station as a research infrastructure, while also improving efficiency and workplace safety.

Among the new additions is a larger flail mower capable of cutting and shredding grass, weeds, and light vegetation, alongside a smaller flail mower intended for use within and between experimental plots. A tractor-mounted wood chipper  has also been acquired to process branches and stems from the permanent rows of bushes in the agroforestry cropping system at SAFE.

Two new ovens for drying plant material have been installed, further expanding the station's processing capabilities. A new experimental combine harvester is also currently being procured and, if all goes according to plan, will be ready for use this autumn.

Finally, the renovation of the locker rooms and the completion of the new batch room mark a further improvement to the station's facilities.
