On February 25th-26th, SITES field and lab technicians gathered at Grimsö Wildlife Research Station for a workshop focused on the current status and development of the SITES Water thematic program. The workshop brought together technical staff from all stations participating in the SITES Water program to discuss key priorities and future directions for the program.
The meeting featured sessions addressing critical aspects of the monitoring program, including documentation of sensor setup and calibration, as well as updating protocols for data collection and quality control.
During the meeting, participants also discussed how the SITES Water program could be expanded to additional SITES stations in the future, including Grimsö and Lönnstorp station. In fact, the SITES Water technicians aided in collecting an inaugural water sample from the stream connecting Bysjön and Sörmogen, which runs directly past the station. In turn, the SITES Water technicians learned about wildlife research at Grimsö by joining a station tour lead by Gunnar Jansson.
The overall atmosphere was positive and productive and was a great opportunity for a collaborative environment and knowledge-sharing. Thanks to the group for this successful meeting!
