A team from the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment at SLU participated in the eLTER Science Conference, held from 23–27 June in Tampere, Finland.
The group included Marcus Wallin, Director of SITES; Ulf Grandin, National Coordinator of eLTER Sweden; Holger Villwock and Blaize Denfeld from the SITES Secretariat—with Blaize also serving as Deputy National Coordinator of eLTER Sweden—and James Kurén Weldon and Theresa Lumpi, who are involved in eLTER-related activities within the department.
SLU and the affiliated team members contribute to several key areas within the eLTER PPP and PLUS projects. Their work spans coordination through the Sites and Platform Forum—which connects station managers across the infrastructure—the development of standard observation protocols, and support in data management. Through these efforts, SLU is actively helping to strengthen and shape the future of the eLTER infrastructure.
The conference, hosted by the eLTER projects and organized by a team from the University of Helsinki, provided a valuable platform for scientific exchange on ecosystem research. It also featured workshops on data management, research infrastructure operations, and early career development. Additionally, it offered the SLU team an opportunity to reconnect with the eLTER community and deepen collaboration around their ongoing contributions.
